The Taste of Fuquay-Varina continues to draw crowds from all over Southern Wake County as we judge our areas finest cooks! Our contests include “Best Tasting Cakes”, “Best Decorated Cakes” and our area restaurants will have round two of the “Best Chicken Wings in Southern Wake”.

This year’s cake decorating theme is “Mascot Mania”. The cakes will be auctioned off so make sure you come ready to take your favorite “team home”. In addition to incredible food our area merchants will have something to offer you in their stores. This is a great time to browse and see all that Historic Varina has to offer. Music, GREAT food, family fun and a day with friends is what you can expect during your visit!

Cake Contest Categories

Judged on Taste and Presentation

1. Best Chocolate Cake (any kind-be creative!)
2. Best Pound Cake
3. Best Family Favorite Recipe Cake
4. For Men Only Division (Rumor has it we have some great male cooks!)

Judged on Presentation Only

5. Best Decorated Cupcakes –Age 16 and Under
6. Best Decorated “Mascot Mania” Cake – Amateur Division
7. Best Decorate “Mascot Mania” Cake – Professional Division

There is an entry fee of $5.00 per cake. Pieces of each cake entered in categories 1-5 will be sold to the public for tasting. Decorated Cake Categories 6 and 7 will be auctioned. Fall brings out all our sports enthusiasts so Mascot Mania is the theme for both Decorated Cake Categories. Use your imagination and get ready to show your team spirit! All proceeds will benefit revitalization efforts in Historic Downtown Fuquay-Varina.
